Well as I write this I am freezing cold sitting in the tack room having ridden 7 today – and this is supposed to be winter! With 17 in we are still busy!
I am thrilled that Dodson and Horell have joined the team as a sponsor for 2013 – the horses love the feed and I look forward to seeing how they all run on it next season.
Although the 2012 season did not end they way I had hoped I am looking forward to the next Olympic cycle and Rio
I am mulling over plans for the season in my mind – Henry will be prepared for Badminton along with Super Steve.
Allora proved herself at 2* and advanced level and I am excited about her future and will head to Bramham in the Spring
Fin will aim for Le Lion after the aborted attempt this year and I will try and get Conker there too
The rest of the winter will feature show jumping, dressage and lessons with Yogi- it will soon be time to start eventing again!

Osberton
Osberton ended up a mixed bag really.
Outward Bound had a great run round in the 1* and finished in 12th place.
Obos Cooley did a lovely test and was fab xc but had an annoying 2 fences down showjumping and he finished 19th in the highly competitive young horse class – I am thrilled with his progress this year and have high hopes for Le Lion D'angers in a couple of weeks
It was fun to have Fernhill Cristal out again in the 2*. We did a great dressage to lie in 2nd but unfortunately the sun was blinding as we approached a tricky combination which meant I missed my line which saw us collect 20 penalites and then I was totally gutted that we couldn't present him at the final trot up.
We had a mad dash home and after a brief pit stop headed east to Little Downham.
Allora 3 made a few mistakes in her dressage for 34 but jumped a lovely double clear ending 8th in Advanced
Noble Bestman did a lovely test for 29, showjumped clear but had a very naughty run out on xc! I am cross with him and he needs to buck up before we head off to Pau
Nankin W did a nice test but only got 35 which was disappointing, but he jumped a fab double clear to finish 9th in the novice.

Osberton
Well I write this as I am heading north for Osberton. Had a busy morning at home already having ridden 2 and then we left at 8am sharp for the 5 hr trip north
FERNHILL CRISTAL is in the 2*, OUTWARD BOUND in the 1* and OBOS COOLEY in the Young Horse Class - I hear it has been raining up there! But it does like it will get drier as the week goes on. You can keep up with all the results here
Yogi came on Monday and we had a really good session – we worked Noble Bestman, Obos Cooley, Fernhill Cristal and Cooley Lord Lux on the flat and then jumped 8 – it was a long day but they were all good
On Tuesday I turned into a show jumper again and had a good day at Summerhouse Controe was 2nd in newcomers and clear in 1m15.... Obos Cooley was 3rd in newcomers.... Fernhill Cristal redeemed himself with clear in 1m20

Haras du Pin
The trip out to France was fun and we arrived to find the venue bathed in sun shine – toping up the tan was the order of the day – happy days
Obos Cooley was absolutely AMAZING during the week – he took the step up all in his stride. A great test was followed by a fab xc.... Clear inside the time! He felt like a pro on the xc and will be very flash soon. A brilliant clear show jumping saw us finish 3rd in a really competitive class
We decided not to run Brookfield Cult King xc as he was not in a competitive position and the ground was firm enough!
Steve was very excited in his dressage and the tension resulted in a moderate score! The xc was huge and sadly Super Steve was too onward bound at the water and we had an annoying run out – he was amazing apart from that and I am so cross with myself. He jumped a super clear round in the show jumping - magic.
We dashed home as fast as we could - I am off to Wellington today - by all reports it is a great new addition to the event season.
It is weird not having a horse for Burghley this year but I wish all those going a great round! I will be at Goring over the weekend – winning points and prizes I hope!
Sadly Henry has sustained a minor injury during the training for Blenheim and I have withdrawn him – it is only a minor injury and we hope he will be back in top form for Badminton next year – we will miss him this autumn but his long term future is important
Until next week

Just for a change we set off to an event in the rain!
Controe has been a star in his second novice He did a 32.5 dressage and double clear in the mud... Such a dude for a 5yo!
Noble Skyboy did a nice test for 31.5 in the novice and one rail, didn't run xc as ground too deep....
Brookfield Cult King lovely 26 dressage in his first intermediate test but withdrew before jumping due to deep going
This week we head to Aston le Walls – again – lets hope it is dry
I am glued to the TV trying to keep up with our gold rush at the Olympics!

Aston Aston Aston and a bit more Aston
Aston
Steve and I had the best time at Hickstead in the Grand Prix Class – we had a ball but Steve got a little confused and although we had the fastest time, we had a few fences down which left us in 8th.
Friday saw us at Aston with the novices - Outward Bound was 5th and Noble Skyboy jumped a lovely double clear in his first novice!
The weather was grim and the Taylors deserve a huge thanks for carrying on – the course it self held up well and both horses felt great
Saturday was a busy day taking 5 horses to Robin Dumas amazing xc facility.
Sunday saw an early start with galloping Henry at home and then off to Aston with Allora for her first Advanced – yikes. She was going brilliantly until we came to a double of box fences... She jumped in so well that the 4 strides came up very quick and she just caught her front legs on the way up which shot me out the front door, I got back on and completed a perfect round apart from that - she will have learnt a lot from the experience and we will head to Hartpury CCI** for our next outing
Monday saw Controe, Nankin and Maisie out – Controe had a silly rail then an awesome xc, Nankin jumped a fab double clear... Both are only 5 years old making their novice debut so I was thrilled with how mega they were xc! Maisie unfortunately didn't want to play on the xc and had 2 stops.
Tuesday was guess what – another trip to Aston for Event Training – top effort to the Taylors for having the energy to run so many days! I had my exciting new horse from Ireland there and he jumped double clear in the BE100 section
This week is busy at home and I will be glued to the TV to watch Team GBR at the weekend – fingers crossed they win Gold at Greenwich. The TV coverage can be found here

Gt Witchingham
Well the trip to Gt Witchingham was not without incident - bad weather and traffic meant the trip took twice as long as it should – whilst driving there we heard the bad news that the novice classes had been cancelled – we were losing the will to live worrying we would get there and it would all be off. We consoled ourselves with the perfect athlete meal – MacDonald’s!
The organisers performed heroics and we are very lucky we got to run in the 1* They deserve a huge thank you for keeping going.
Brookfield Cult King was doing his first CIC* and was annoyingly given 20pens for shuffling down the steps into the water... but he was fab for the rest of it
Obos Cooley was fab in CIC* 48.1 dressage and double clear just adding 6 time pens to finish 8th
We head to Aston this weekend – lets hope it dries up

Aachen
Aachen is one of the most amazing venues I have ever been too for an event!
The whole trip was such fun and I am thrilled with Henry’s performance.
We traveled out with Francis Whittington – and had a laugh all the way there.
Henry really tried in the dressage and did his best test to date and it is exciting that there is still some improvement to come. He Showed jumped really well too.
The xc out there was a big test – full on course and plenty of opportunity to have a silly run out but Henry was a star, we had to take an unplanned long route 4 fences from home when my rein slipped so incurred 4.4 time pens.... we finished on the same score as World and European Champion Micheal Jung but finished in 3rd... I am over the moon with his performance. Team GB were just 4.6 pens behind the winning German team.
We travelled home over night on Saturday and then it was back to reality with a bump on Sunday when I fell off one of the youngsters at home!
Team GB is on a roll at the moment – Charlotte Du Jardin did a stunning test at Hartpury as a warm up for the Olympics – you can watch it here
The plan this week is Great Witchingham but with all the continued rain and a bleak forecast I am just keeping everything crossed we get a run!

Barbury
Barbury
Well Barbury this year was like the Olympics will be in a few weeks time
Everyone who is anyone was there and many nations were using it as a final trial/run
I had a good day on the Friday with Longbarn Maisie and Brookfield Cult King both winners! The sections were very hot and I was thrilled to win them
Obos Cooley did a lovely double clear
Alorra did a 41.7 dressage in the 2* - she really will be smart when she gets it all together – one down and a great xc round saw us finish 8th
Henry did a nice test in the Olympic Combined training but was a little harshly marked for 45 - he then jumped one of his best rounds this season and won!!!! It was nice to beat a lot of Olympic team horses! He heads off to Aachen this week
A huge Thankyou to Holly Farr and all involved for making Barbury one of the best one day events in the country ... I love riding there ...

Salperton
Salperton Saturday
Rayef won his section after a 21.5 double clear! He felt magic and now heads to Aachen next. He was a bit surprised to be out so quickly after Bramham but Aachen is just 2 weeks away now.
Allora continued her good form and finished 6th after 31.4 double clear
It is very sad that the organisers had to cancel the Sunday – the rain just fell over night leaving them no chance of going on!

Update
The new event at Nunney will prove to be a good addition to the circuit and I was pleased Nankin did a great double clear in the 5 year old class
I then had the weekend off – enjoying a hen party with my friends in Bath – it is rare to have a weekend off in the season and I made the most of it
It is very exciting that Henry and I are one of the 15 nominated combinations for the Olympics – we are a reserve but it is still very exciting to be on the list! We will head to Aachen in July.
On Tuesday I had a great day Showjumping at Summerhouse . Various placings and a nice win for Allora in the 1m20.- Controe and Outward Bound lovely double clears in 1.05. It was a really long day but worth it! I am thrilled with how the horses are going at this stage.
We headed to World class training on Wednesday with Henry Obos Cooley and Controe. Some great work with John Leadingham and an interesting session with the food nutritionist– mind you I know I eat too much chocolate – I did not need her to tell me that!
Salperton this weekend
Hope you have enjoyed the few days of sunshine - I am really enjoying the fabbie racing on TV from Ascot
Until next time

The Olympics
Very excited to hear the news that Rayef is one of the 15 horses nominated for Team GB for the Olympic Games.
The team of William, Mary, Tina, Zara, Piggy has been chosen - click here for the release but selectors are waiting to name the order of reserves horses until a later date.
Rayef has been invited to compete at Aachen CIC*** in July so that will be his aim instead of Barbury CIC***

Bramham Sunday
Super Steve and I have finished 2nd in the CCI*** Under 25 class at Bramham today. He was fab but I am a bit disappointed we did not win – he so deserved too!
He felt amazing xc on Saturday – he flew round clear with just 2.8 time pens to lie in 1st place over night
He trotted up well and today he was jumping his socks off but unfortunately he went a bit high over an oxer and just came down on the back rail which saw us slip to second... Gutting as he hasn't had a fence down since July last year!!
He will have a bit of a break now and his autumn plan is Pau.
The mission of the whole week with Henry was to go clear xc and make sure he was back to his best after a slightly frustrating spring – to say the least
He did not like the ground in the show jumping and rolled 2 poles which slipped us down the order after leading the dressage but he flew xc and really felt on a mission – he was awesome – we finished 6th in the really hot section
He is heading to Barbury next!
I am sorry for the connections of Lead the Way and Jagganth who sadly passed away during the xc on Saturday – it is a tough game and I feel for their riders, owners and grooms
Heading south now for the long trip home

Bramham
Bramham – Friday
Well I can tell you it is a bit soggy up here!
The organisers are doing an amazing job to keep the show on the road and it does sound like the forecast is better for the weekend
I am really chuffed with both my boys today! Rayef is leading CIC on 37.5 and Noble Bestman 4th in CCI on 45
Both coped really well in the mud - Steve did one of his best tests – he was a little tight in trot but excellent in the canter. Henry was very good!
The xc course is big and bold; quite flowing which will be good for my two – the CCI is very hilly and I think the time will be tight
Fingers crossed for a dry night

She did a great test to score 27.3 and a few time penalties xc saw us finish 2nd
Heading north tomorrow after lessons with Yogi

Brand Hall - Saturday
The trip north to Brand Hall was long! Traffic on the M6 on a Friday - arghhh
Both the horses went well when we got there!
Brookfield Cult King .. 26 dressage, double clear with just 1.2 time pens and was the winner of his section
Obos Cooley was competiting in his first CIC* and did a fabbie test to lead after dressage on 37.2.
He was very disappointing in the show jumping with 3 fences down, , he wasn't concentrating at all... Made up for it with a good clear xc round a tough track!
Off to Little Downham on Tuesday Allora 3 for an Intermediate run
Yogi is coming very early on Wednesday before I head off to Bramham on Wednesday with Super Steve and Henry
Enjoy the jubilee celebrations

A long trip north today to Brand Hall - it was a long way up the M6 and the traffic was boring
I am chuffed to bits with Obos Cooley in his first CIC*... Leading after dressage on 37.2!
Fingers crossed for xc
Here he is looking very smart at the trot up!

Busy week
Well where do I start this week?
As you will know by now Saumur did not have the best ending for Henry and I - he was going really well on the xc until fence 25 when we had a stop – it was so frustrating but I tried to put it behind me and approached again – sadly we had a fall and were eliminated – we are both fine and will live to fight another day but our Olympic hopes are over and plan Z is now in operation
Thank you to those who were kind enough to send messages, texts, tweets etc over the weekend – I am sorry I won’t get to reply to them all but they meant a lot
I was thrilled with Allora though – a silly mistake xc did not mar her fantastic performance and I believe she is a proper horse in the making
We had a frantic trip back home as I was heading to Tweseldown on Monday – we travelled in convey with Team Todd and got home – at 730 – Felicity was a star and had all the horses ready to go with the tack all outside - so a record turnaround of 30 minutes and we were on the road to Tweseldown – thanks must go to the team there for arranging my times as best they could – even though at one point I was still doing dressage on one horse just 15 minutes before my dressage on Steve was due to start!
Noble Bestman restored the humour by winning the OI and the novice horses finishing 2nd (Obos Cooley) 3rd (Longbarn Maisie) and 6th (Brookfield Cult King) – got home fairly late that night and was pretty tired!
The weekend saw us head to Ponitspool – Maisie was again and star and jumped a double clear and finished 7th – I did not run the rest xc – the ground was firming up every minute and as they are only young there will be plenty more chances ahead
This week I am heading to Ireland horse hunting and will stop of at Tatts to see how everyone is getting on
Until next time

Saumur - Friday
Henry did a great test today and we lead the CCI*** section! Whoop whoop
Henry was warming up really amazing – until a tractor distracted him – but he did regroup to do a great test – the French judge did not like him marking him down which is sad
The course has been beefed up – it is very twisty and has four water complexes; two right at the end of the course – the second last water is one of the hardest questions especially if the horses are a bit tired by then. There are plenty of opportunities to have a run out so we will need to be on our game the whole way round - the early corner fence invites you to have a run out.
The xc time is 9.14 and will be hard to get. The going is very sandy and is a bit a deep in places.
It has been very sunny and we hear it is due to rain pn Saturday
Allora goes at 1115 and Henry at 1552 (French time)
Click here for all the info
All is well at home which is great – thanks to the team at home who are keeping the whole operation going

Eventer looking for action!
Well for some entertainment on Friday we set off show jumping to Weston Lawns – a great day with 12 rounds jumped and only 2 poles rolled all day
Saturday was a busy at the yard - we went xc schooling with Brookfield Cult King, Longbarn Maisie, Nankin and Allora
I jumped Fernhill Cristal for the first time in over a year today and he was very pleased to be in action – click here for his session!
Steve and Henry then headed to Seven Barrows for a gallop
We head off to Saumur next week with Henry and Allora Click here for all the up-to-date info

Gutted!
Well the last 10 days or so have been a nightmare for all involved in world of eventing.
We had huge disappointment with the cancellation of Badminton - the park was underwater leaving the organisers with no choice but to abandon and the difficult logistics for the event mean there is no chance of rescheduling.
From a personal point of view I had 2 horses fit and ready to run in the form of their lives so the disappointment was huge – particularly for Henry who was hoping a brilliant performance would secure us a place for London
Frantic calls followed and we rerouted Henry to Chatsworth and Steve to Tatts
Sadly the rain has continued to fall and we heard this morning that Chatsworth has also been cancelled
I am not too sure of the plan now for Henry but will let you know when I do
We continue to get ready for Saumur next week – I hear it is dry there
Work at home continues with lessons, schooling and galloping – feels a bit flat with no parties to go to

Show Jumping at Addington
We headed off to Addington today for the 125 and 130 classes with Steve and Henry – they both jumped fab – the jumps were huge and I was thrilled with both of them
This is our final outing before we head off to Badminton next week
Fingers crossed it stops raining for Withington this weekend

Hambledon
Sadly the truck was towed on to Hambledon on Friday morning which is always a bad sign!
Nankin did a 30 test and another brill double clear and was a winner!
Controe did a 34 test and another brill double clear and we finished 9th
But on the way home, after a whole day of pouring rain, we heard the organisers had no choice but to cancel the event for the weekend - such a shame for all those involved
So we had a busy weekend at home - galloping the Badminton horses etc
Good Luck to Clare Lomas and Charlie the Coffee man who are running the marathon today - nutters!

Weston Park
Long day at Weston today
Ali finished 3rd in only her 2nd intermediate – she is really going well now and I am pleased with her progress
Henry and Steve were both having their final outing before Badminton – Henry did a great test but I was disappointed with his mark of 33 - he show jumped well but slipped on a turn and we had one down –the plan was never to run xc but he was very disappointed not to be running!
Steve scored 33 and was foot perfect in the show jumping – again he was disappointed not to be running xc!
They will both go show jumping next week before heading to Badminton

Henry and Steve were both having their final outing before Badminton – Henry did a great test but I was disappointed with his mark of 33 - he show jumped well but slipped on a turn and we had one down –the plan was never to run xc but he was very disappointed not to be running!
Steve scored 33 and was foot perfect in the show jumping – again he was disappointed not to be running xc!
They will both go show jumping next week before heading to Badminton

14th April
Busy day at home today gettting everything ridden - Henry and Steve went galloping at Seven Barrows again today - I am so grateful to Nicky Henderson allowing me to use them with my Badminton horses- click here to see them both gallop today.
Will try to get everything ridden in time to watch the racing from Aintree before we starting bathing and plaiting the horses for Weston on Sunday.

Larkhill
Larkhill – Friday
After a busy morning at home schooling Henry and Steve – Felicity and I left for Larkhill with Longbarn Maise and Obos Cooley
Obos was 2nd – he did a 31. 5 dressage and then a brilliant double clear – I let the handbrake off for the first time really and he felt very confident xc – he is a very special horse and I have to remember he is only 6
Great shot of us show jumping - photo by kind permission of Uptown Eventing
Maise was a little tense in the dressage, rolled a pole and then had a run out xc – annoyingly it seems to becoming the story of her season so far
Back on Saturday with CONTROE, NANKIN W and NOBLE SKYBOY
Sunday will see us galloping the Badminton duo – busy busy days
Still 7 above Steve on the wait list at Badminton

Belton
Mixed bag this weekend at Belton
RAYEF (Henry) did the most amazing test to lead the 3* section after the dressage – it was a great test and still work to do ahead of Badminton – a great clear round show jumping followed. He felt awesome xc, back to how he felt at Badminton last year but sadly I made a mistake at the brush fence out of the water and we had a run out – I am so cross with myself but he felt fab for the rest of the round. We will do the dressage and show jumping at Weston and then head to Badminton! yikes
NOBLE BESTMAN (Steve) did a great test too and a great show jumping round – some time penalties saw us finish 6th – he felt really good – perfect prep round for Badminton – although there are still 9 above us on the waitlist. He will also head to Weston for the dressage and show jumping.
BROOKFIELD CULT KING was very good but sadly had a run out xc at the sunken road – it was a big ask for his first novice and I am pleased with him
ALLORA 3 was having her first intermediate run and clear show jumping and xc rounds saw us finish just out of the top 10 - she felt awesome
A long drive home now
We head to Larkhill with the young horses this weekend – swimming and galloping planned

Gatcombe
Gatcombe
We went off show jumping yesterday at Addington with Henry and Steve
Steve jumped amazingly well and we won the 150 speed classes and 5th in the other class. Henry and Jitterbug jumped really well too
We headed off to Gatcombe on Saturday OBOS COOLEY did a nice dressage and a great double clear with a few time penalties say us finish in the top 10
LONGBARN MAISIE did 35 dressage and a clear show jumping round but had a annoying stop xc - arghhhh
I dashed home to ride a few more at home and Henry and Steve will gallop on Sunday – hopefully at Seven Barrows – home of superstar NH Trainer Nicky Henderson
Badminton entries were published this week – it is a stella field and Steve is annoyingly on the wait list but is 12th so I am sure he will get in Click here to see the full entry list

Lincoln - WINNER!
Lincoln
WINNERS! OUR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Well the long trip north was worth it - Henry was a winner and Super Steve was 4th –perfect warm up for Badminton and long may their form continue!
Steve’s dressage was performed in a hailstorm – the worst weather of the day but he was really cool and tried his best = he did not like the ground so did not show himself to his best so there is more improvement to come – he then followed it up with a brill double clear
Henry led the dressage on a score of 22 and with him also there is still improvement to come – he Show jumped really well and was magic cross country if a little strong!
On Saturday Ali had an annoying 20 at the coffin which took her a bit by surprise – we ended up 12th
Click here to see a photo of her cross country
Brookfield Baker Street did a shocking test but as his first outing we can forgive him that! He had one down and followed it up with a steady clear
It was a great event and well done to the organisers who did a fab job with the ground in the horrid weather – it rained all night and kept us awake but the ground held up well
This week I head to Draycott on Thursday, Addington with Steve and Henry for some show jumping and Gatcomeb at the weekend
Happy Days!

Twelesdown
Friday of Tweseldown....
Allora 3 did a nice test with a couple of mistakes and got 31.5, she had one down in sj... she found them a bit small so didn’t respect them after jumping 1m30 BSJA over the winter!! She was great round the xc.
Outward Bound was quite fresh and was a bit on edge in his test, he managed to contain himself (just!!) and got 30.5, he also had one down in sj and flew round the xc.
Obos Cooley was a bit behind the leg in his test but managed to score a 29.5 and jumped a fab double clear... he finds it all very easy! He picked up a 10th rosette!
Saturday of Tweseldown...
Brookfield Cult King behaved well in his dressage and scored 32.5, he finished on this score and ended up 7th.
Noble Skyboy wasn’t very impressed at having to do dressage and thought he should just be going xc! He was unsettled in his test and scored 36.5, he made up for it by flying round the sj and xc! He picked up an 8th place!
All in all the horses went well and it was a great few days!

Twelesdown 8th & 9th March
Nankin did lovely test had one rail sj and fab round xc - and we ended up 10th
Controe was well behaved in test but not consistent in contact so scored 37. We Sj clear and apart from getting a bit of a surprise at the water and having 20pens... he was brilliant round rest xc!
Noble bestman did one of his best tests... thanks to Felicity’s schooling (I hardly ride him at home now!!) got 27... double clear but they gave him 7 time pens in sj which we contested as he is always speedy in sj!! These time pens cost us 2nd place!
Rayef was very pleased to be out but strutted his stuff and got 20.9 which led the section by 6 marks! Was a bit over excited in sj so had one down and we didn’t run him xc....
Back on Friday with Allora, Cooley, and Outwood Bound and on Saturday with Noble Skyboy - crazy week!

2012
I'm back and my New Years resolution is to keep my website and diary up to date!!!
The eventing season is just around the corner, in fact it's less than 2 weeks away!! Time has flown by!!
The horses have all had a nice break and come back in fresh and well.
I was lucky enough to be spoilt with 2 holidays over the winter... I went with the Walkers to Barbados and then went visiting my family in NZ!
I was a serious adrenalin junkie during my time in NZ and after doing a bungee jump I feel Badminton XC will seem easy!!!!!!!!!
We have a few new additions to the yard and I am really excited about the 2012 season!
